Why Adoption?
‘The Beauty of it all’
I pray that every lady in the Urban Hills community experienced rest, love, and gratitude for all that you mean to us and the world. You all play an incredible role in our community and are impacting the future of the church and our world. God has placed you in an incredible role and purpose for you to play the role of mother. Thank you!
The last six weeks have been some of the most challenging yet exciting days in our church. The series ‘A Different Kind of Normal’ was intended to reflect how life is different because of the resurrection of Jesus. While this was remains the purpose, a few weeks in I realized we were in the center of a series on the DNA, vision, and mission of our church. It’s a beautiful thing to see the DNA of a church be about the resurrection of Jesus and how it changes our lives and the world. Last night as I finally collapsed onto the couch to relax and reflect on the day, God continued to impress on my heart and mind the phrase “The beauty of it all.” God’s mission done God’s way by God’s people is truly a beautiful site.
One of main tenants of our vision is the beauty of adoption. Yesterday we asked the question ‘why adoption?’ While many turned their heart and mind off immediately because they aren’t married, already have biological kids, or already have raised their kids and got them out of the house; if you are a disciple and believer in Jesus than your life has already been impacted by adoption. Galatians 4 and Romans 8 illuminate how we are adopted by God when we believe in the Gospel.
So…Why adoption?
- Because it was God’s plan all along, not second rate or plan B. (Eph. 1:3-6)
- Because we are adopted by God. (Romans 8:12-17)
- Because it is the heart of the Gospel. (Galatians 4:1-7)
There are several ways you can be part of adoption. (1) Pray. Adoption is truly a huge calling with huge rewards. Join us in praying for the kids, parents, and process. (2) Give. Adoption is expensive and you could play a huge role in the Gospel story by giving to parents who are ready and willing. (3) Mentor. We are involved in a ministry called TRAC who need mentors to foster kids. (4) Adopt. We are calling everyone no matter of age, financial situation, status, etc. to pray about whether God is calling you to adopt. You can participate in the Gospel message. (5) Attitude. Help create an attitude where adoption is celebrated and encouraged!
When we engage in earthly adoption, we demonstrate and reflect the God of the universe and how He adopted us!
